Grant electronic timer for Combi boiler

Hi,
wondering if anyone can help. The timer on my Grant boiler seems to have expired - the display is totally blank. First question is - is there anything I can do to bring it to life? second question is - if we assume it is knackered and I buy a replacement here, how easy is it to replace and should it be done by a plumber? From the instructions of the one I have, it sounds like you just unplug it like you would a car stereo. All help gratefully received!
