De-sludge combi boiler central heating pipes

Postby fred on Fri Feb 05, 2010 6:30 pm

Hi,
would anybody know how best to desludge heating pipes without the use of powerflush? I am currently adding an old pipe circuit (from a different floor in the building) to a recently installed combi boiler and new pipe circuit. The old boiler on this floor has been disconnected and the flow and return pipes are ready to be connected to the new flow and return. Thanks for any suggestions.

Easiest way is shut each radiator valve take the radiators off and flush it out with a hosepipe outside.
It will probably do a better job than a powerflush too!
Once you have done this to each radiator let the system circulate with the drain cock open for an hour or two.
Powerflushing is over rated.

Hi

I would use Sentinel X300 and X400 if necessary and once flushing is complete, add X100 inhibitor.

If they are old radiators - watch for any pin holes when filling the system with water!
