Diverter Valve Problem

Postby lear01 on Fri Mar 12, 2010 8:18 pm

Hi there. I'm new to this forum so please excue me if I'm repeating previous threads, but I can't find anything relating to this problem. I have a 4 year old Ideal isar HE35 condensing boiler. My problem is that when I turn on the dhw my rads get warm. I'm assuming the problem is a faulty diverter valve. Is it repairable or should it just be replaced? Ideal quote £240 for a fixed cost repair service which I don't wont to fork out if it can be repaired for less. The dv is about £100 and plus labour will bring it to around £200 I presume. I am actually doing a basic plumbing course (c&g 6129) and one of the technicians at the college said that the switch on the dv head can get stuck thereby not fully engaging the diaphram to the appropriate valve. I took the cover off the boiler and checked. I turned on the ch and could feel the switch move and lock when the boiler fired up. However it didn't do the same when I turned on the dhw. The switch unlocked but didn't seem to engage the same way it did with ch. It seemed loose. Maybe that's how it's supposed to be, I'm not sure. Anyway, any advice you can offer will be greatly appreciated.

So there is no need of any suggestions anyway. Hope it's working perfectly now.
