Condensing boiler

Postby flumaxed on Wed Nov 26, 2008 1:24 pm

I have recently installed a new domestic condensing boiler and it doesn't exhaust steam as you would expect but does exhaust a bad smell of sulphur, this would normally lead me to the burner bar set up, ie, a yellow flame! however the flame burns as it should with a nice blue flame and the boiler works fine but why no steam? has anyone got any pointers for me.
Many thanks in advance.

From my limited knowledge and having read the WB tech descriptions, I would make the following comments.

I would not expect to see steam, this suggests heat, which these devices are supposed to ge good at not wasting.

The WB range of boilers (certainly the greenstars) collect condensate in a small tank which only empties when its full, using a syphon action.

I think your new boiler is perhaps a little cleverer than you give it credit for - as you say - it works fine - and is probably quietly collecting its next load of condensate as we speak :)
