Worcester 28i capacity

Postby sunrise on Mon Mar 02, 2009 8:53 pm

Hi,
This is my first post. I have a question about the radiator capacity for Worcester 28i combi boiler. Is it ok for semi detached 4 bedroom, 3 reception and 1 bath room house. If not then do you have any recommendation for the boilers.
cheers,

hi
i am not an installer but you will be looking at something more like a 37CDI combi
or to play it safe a 42CDI combi to ensure a good flow rate

Thanks for the reply. I have given the verbal guarentee from the boiler installer that 28i will do the job. After installation i feel that the flow is not equal to all radiators....some radiators are more hot and some are just warm. Also you have to raise the temperature to over 25 C to get any heat in the house. I think i need a bigger boiler for my property.

Hi.

I have a 9 year old 28i with a 27.5Kw output in a 5 bedroom (average room size 12' x 12' with under floor heating in the kitchen area) with 1 bathroom and 1 shower room and have had no problems with heating or hot water (I haven't run both showers at the same time, might not work). I try to keep room temp at 21C but my wife keeps turning it up :) .

This is the output that was acceptable 5 years ago when I extended my house, now they seem to be recommending much higher outputs.

Hope this helps.

Pete

Hi
I am a fitter and have the 28i in my house almost identicalto the previous post and have had no problems at all in 5yrs. I am also a worceter acredited service partner (flashy name) and fit 99% of their boilers. You should be getting excellent flow rates at all rads so, have you got old rads and have you cleaned/flushed the system properly and or are the rads blocked and have you balanced them correctly?
