Hi all, i have a single rad(1200x400) in my small bedroom, we have just had our first baby (his new room!) and we are struggling to get the heat anything more than 16 in this cold weather, i am thinking of getting a double and fitting but will the connectors for the valves be further away from the wall? if so my pipes are buried in the floor so how will i be able to get around this are they any adaptors etc or will i need to get a plumber in to cut and change pipes?

Hi does the rad heat up so hot that you cant touch it? Basically can the boiler take the extra load?

If so in my opinion a double rad would be better in my humble opinion as it had a much lower surface temperature, thus suiting the young one

I imagine someone well experienced in pipe work would be useful on hand (it is a skill).

If you do not have experience in pipe work please do not attempt!

The easy answer is there arn't any magic adaptors, if you go on the stelrad website they show you distance from the wall for each type of radiator, you would get away with about 10mm difference as normally you'll have a bit of movement on copper pipe, anymore than that I'd suggest you pay a plumber.
